High Jump Mats
Officials for the high jump need to ensure that high jump athletes will land safely after their attempts to clear the bar. This means having high jump mats that will cover the flight path of the athlete doing the high jump.
It’s common for high jumpers to land close to the edge or even off the mat. You want to make sure that the mats are high enough for the athlete to not absorb impact from the ground. But low enough for the athlete to land safely if they are doing the flop or scissors.
The mats should at least cover the length of the bar. But if wider high jump mats are available, it will improve the safety for the athlete.
